I’ve seen a lot of movies in my lifetime. Bad movies, good movies, movies that made absolutely no sense. But never have I seen a movie as absolutely perfect as Deadpool. This R-rated, fourth-wall breaking movie about “the merc with a mouth” has been breaking box office records from day one, and with good reason too. Deadpool’s (Ryan Reynolds) story is not one about saving the world, or anything righteous like in most superhero movies. Deadpool’s driving forces are revenge and love for his fiancée, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). Wade Wilson, before becoming Deadpool, was a former special forces operative turned mercenary recently diagnosed with end-stage cancer. He gave up almost immediately, but Vanessa wasn’t ready to let him go. It was for Vanessa that Wade decided to take a shady deal that was supposed to cure his cancer and make him stronger than before. Needless to say, his cancer was cured and he also gained incredible regenerative powers (he grew back a hand at one point during the film). However, there was a side effect. His entire body become horribly scarred, so much so that he was too scared to let Vanessa know that he was still alive. So he resolves to track down Ajax, a.k.a Francis (Ed Skrein), the man who tortured and disfigured him, hoping that what had happened to him could be undone. Violent, uncensored, and insanely hilarious, Deadpool is most definitely not for the faint of heart. Of course, if you feel up to it, I highly recommend that you go and see the film as soon as possible. Although, you probably shouldn’t watch it with your parents.
