As the year comes to its second semester and your desire to work declines exponentially, I advise you to keep yourself focused on your goals and duties. It may seem as the worst has passed after your first attempt at the SAT/ACT back in December, but remember that there is much more to come.
You should in fact budget yourself to take either test (ACT/SAT) more than once, or even consider switching from one to the other: It has been proven that each test benefits certain students with distinct abilities. Furthermore, you should be done with your summer programs’ application. Right now is time to relax and wait!!! Just leave the notification date marked on your calendar and move on… do not dwell on it or it will seem like an eternity before your get a response!
Your extracurricular activities are still pivotal; remember that these showcase your passions and distinctions in those one-dimensional college applications. You should look at it this way: elections are coming up at the end of the year for each club + most of the board (seniors) will be leaving = you should be excelling and showing your dedication to the club now, in order to acquire the leading positions.
Finally, junior year is also a great time to complete your community service requirements. Believe me, senior year will be caving in on you as sneaky deadlines approach for college, scholarships, Silver Knigt, and more! Yes, having a life is secondary at that point.
Maybe if I make it to end of this Silver Knight week, I will be writing to you next month. Until then, may this New Year keep you on your feet, but never forget to soar high enough to attain your resolutions.
