By: Nick Suarez, Senior The 2020 election is shaping up to be more of a flaming wreck then anyone could’ve hoped for. On the one side there’s the Republicans promoting a fascistic near-senial old man who has been accused of sexual assault and gloats about it. Meanwhile, the Democratis, the valiant #RESISTANCE, have given us our knight in shining white armor: a near-senial old man whose record as a senator is spotty at best, was the token white guy in 2008 and 2012, refuses to embrace any true progressive policies, and is also accused of sexual assault. To make things even better renowned friend of segregationist Strom Thurmond, and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has begun airing ads that claim that renouned sex offender Donald Trump’s response to to Coronavirus has been weak, but not because he is refusing states assistance that is desperatly needed to keep Americans alive, refusing to listen to scientists warnings about the number of testing kits needed before America can truly reopen, or even refusing to enact the Defense Production Act to get basic medical goods out to the public.
No. Joe Biden believes that the best way to attack Donald Trump is by arguing that he’s soft on those Chinese, and that he let in a staggering FORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE FROM CHINA into the country during his travel ban. In this ad, Joe Biden has decided that when they go low, we will go lower, and use racist dog whistles to attack Trump. It really can’t be laid out more simply than that. At a point when the Democratic party has the chance to embrace true change like that of Roosevelt and Kennedy, the Democratic Party chooses to consolidate around a man who believes that using China as a scare tactic is valid because he’s running against a man who is racist on the white house lawn, not in closed doors like the rest of Washington. Well I refuse to be a part of it; so today I promise this, due to moral concerns over the way Joe Biden governs, lives his life, and his moralities I will not publicly endorse him or his running mate. I plan to take the route of many respectable groups (specifically the Sunrise movement), and will simply abstain from endorsing any candidate, and privately vote for who I chose. It’s very likely that I will vote for Joe Biden; afterall I live in a swing state, and in Florida every vote counts, but I refuse to publicly support a candidate with as checkered a voting history as Biden.
