By: Nia Nelson, Senior As the month of October approaches and the season of warmth and colors sets in— although Miami’s weather isn’t the best representation of Autumn— there are many attractions and annual events open to many who seek some outdoor festivities when the weather is getting a bit cooler. a time of enjoyment . In our enchanting city, there are plenty of events that are perfect if you intend on spending quality time with friends or family. Additionally, most events are affordable for those who anticipate an enjoyable time in Miami’s version of Autumn. Here are a handful of events in the Miami area that you could attend in the month of October: Miami Broward Carnival Miami Broward Carnival 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM on Sunday, October 13 ![]() Miami Carnival is a celebration here in South Florida. The carnival presents parade of bands, music trucks, steelbands, carnival concert, food and drinks and arts and crafts. The line up goes as follows: it kicks off with the Junior Carnival on the Saturday before Carnival Sunday, followed by the Steelband Panorama competition on Friday. The official J’Ouvert is held on Saturday. The height of the carnival celebrations is the Kings, Queens and Individuals Show and Competition and the parade and concert on Carnival Sunday. The Miami Broward Carnival also sets up a guide to ensure you make the most of your carnival experience. This family event has many different types of entertainment as well. This will be a great event to attend especially if you have younger siblings or something for the whole family! ![]() Ghosts in the Garden Miami Beach at 2000 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach Sunday, October 27 From 11AM to 2PM Ghosts in the Garden is an event for you and your family to enjoy a good time in their botanical gardens. The events held are carving your own Jack-o-Lantern and pumpkins and many different craft stations for children and families. Lastly there is a costume and trick and treating for all ages. Spooktacular Safe Streets Halloween Party City of South Miami, SW 72nd St. to 57th Avenue Thursday, October 31from 4 PM to 7 PM Spooktacular Safe Streets Halloween Party is located in the City of South Miami, SW 72nd St. to 57th Avenue. There will be safe and fun trick or treating for the whole family! Attractions from meeting Scooby Doo, receiving free candy, playing games, winning prizes, dancing to music, inflatables, and much more! There is also a costume contest offered with the chance to win several prizes. HalloWYN 2019- Wynwood Halloween Block Party 2250 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132 Thursday, October 31-Friday, November 1, 7:00PM ![]() HalloWYN is held at the Wynwood MarketPlace at 2250 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132. Wynwood presents a Halloween night in Wynwood called HalloWYN. There will be thousands of Miami’s most eclectic souls dressed in outrageous costumes, from witches and ghouls to fierce lions and superheroes. Also there would be over 20 food trucks and plenty of music not to mention it is free. ![]() House of Horror Haunted Carnival Thursday, October 5- Sat November 4 House of Horror has a carnival and haunted houses that are impressive and eerie. Admission is $30, unless you are between the ages 3-6, making it $15. Haunted houses such as Blossom LN and Area 13 are horrifically awesome and brings haunting experiences that cater to people’s fears. The carnival rides are unlimited as well as the shows and haunted houses.
